6    A RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE SUPPORTING THE WENDOVER, UTAH-NEVADA
7    ENOLA GAY RESTORATION PROJECT AND ITS EFFORT TO ENSURE THAT THE

9    Be it resolved by the Senate of the state of Utah:
10        WHEREAS the Enola Gay #86292, was built in Omaha, Nebraska in 1944;

13    of thousands of lives;
14        WHEREAS the Enola Gay, her crew members and hundreds of support personnel were
15    briefed, trained, and sworn to absolute secrecy while stationed at a remote airfield called
16    Wendover, Utah-Nevada;
17        WHEREAS since that time, Wendover, Utah-Nevada, located on East-West Interstate 80,
18    has become a successful tourist attraction world and nationwide, with countless visitors each year;
19        WHEREAS not only does Wendover, Utah-Nevada have the Enola Gay heritage and
20    history to its credit, it also is the site of world land speed records at the vast Salt Flats Speedway;
21        WHEREAS the twin cities of Wendover, Utah-Nevada have pledged to restore the Enola
22    Gay Hanger Number 1 and other base facilities for the purpose of an air and land speed museum
23    and memorial to display and report the true history of the historic plane;
24        WHEREAS the Enola Gay legacy and a true, authentic story should endure the test of time
25    for the benefit of all future Americans and international visitors;
26        WHEREAS given the significance of the origins of the historic plane, the most appropriate
27    and permanent home for the Enola Gay is in Wendover, Utah-Nevada;

1        WHEREAS the cities of Wendover, Utah-Nevada are ready and willing to commit to the
2    Enola Gay project immediately, with the goal of restoring the plane to its original state and
3    permanently locating it in the Enola Gay Hanger Number 1 at Wendover, Utah-Nevada; and
4        WHEREAS having the Enola Gay and other armed services memorabilia that were
5    involved with the assembly, test drop, and training for the first atomic bomb would add to
6    Wendover, Utah-Nevada's worldwide attraction:
7        NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
8    Governor concurring therein, support the Wendover, Utah-Nevada Enola Gay restoration project
