Mr. Speaker:

    The Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Committee reports a favorable recommendation on S.B. 25, UNIFORM ALLOWANCE FOR UTAH HIGHWAY PATROL, by Senator R. Evans, with the following amendments:

1.    Page 1, Line 7:    After "INCLUDE" insert "PURCHASING BASIC UNIFORMS FOR NEW TROOPERS AND"

2.    Page 2, Line 19:    After "accidents;" delete "and" and insert:
        "(14) provide the initial mandatory uniform items for each new trooper hired after July 1, 1998; and"

3.    Page 2, Line 20:    At the beginning of line 20 delete "(14)" and insert "(15)"

4.    Page 7, Line 16:    After "sufficient to" insert ":"
        "(i) provide mandatory uniforms for projected new Highway Patrol Troopers as prescribed by Section 53-8-104; and
        (ii)"

5.    Page 7, Line 18:    After "fund the" insert "uniforms for new troopers or the"

6.    Page 7, Line 20:    After "including" delete "that amount" and insert "those amounts"
