House Committee Amendments

Representative Brian Allen proposes the following amendments:

1.    Page 1, Line 9:    After "PROVIDING A" delete "$2,000,000" and insert "$1,300,000"

2.    Page 4, Line 21:    After "of" delete "between" and insert "either"

3.    Page 4, Line 22:    After "$5,000" delete "to" and insert "or"

4.    Page 7, Line 23:    After "that" insert ": (i)"

5.    Page 7, Line 24:    After "alternative" insert
        "; and
        (ii) current teachers who choose not to teach at the converted charter school or who are not retained by the school at the time of its conversion would receive a first preference for transfer to open teaching positions for which they qualify within the school district. If no positions are open, contract provisions or board policy regarding reduction in staff would apply."

6.    Page 11, Line 27:    After "board" delete "shall" and insert "may"

7.    Page 14, Line 9:    After "1998-99," delete "$1,500,000" and insert "$800,000"

8.    Page 14, Line 12:    Delete line 12 and renumber remaining subsections accordingly
