         AMENDMENTS RELATED TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION

Representative B. ALLEN proposes the following amendments:

1.    Page 1, Line 9:    After "CIRCUMSTANCES;" insert "PROVIDING FOR A STUDY OF PRIVATIZATION;"

2.    Page 1, Line 16:    After line 16 insert:
        "This act enacts uncodified material."

3.    Page 5, Line 16:    After line 16 insert:
        "Section 6. Study of privatization.
         (1) The Legislative Management Committee shall designate an interim committee of the Legislature to study during the 1998 Interim:
         (a) whether to privatize the Workers' Compensation Fund of Utah;
         (b) if the interim committee recommends privatization, the process of privatization;
        (c) what money, if any, the state can receive as part of the privatization of the Workers' Compensation Fund of Utah for good will, name equity, or any other assets of the Workers' Compensation Fund of Utah; and
        (d) alternative means of handling the residual market.
         (2) The interim committee designated under Subsection (1) shall present its final recommendations to the Legislature for consideration in the 1999 Annual General Session. "
