             6      AN ACT RELATING TO PUBLIC EDUCATION; REQUIRING ADOPTION
             7      PRESENTATIONS TO SECONDARY STUDENTS BE GIVEN BY CERTIFICATED
             8      TEACHERS AS PART OF THE HEALTH EDUCATION CORE.
             9      This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
             10      AMENDS:
             11          53A-13-107, as last amended by Chapter 161, Laws of Utah 1998
             12      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             13          Section 1. Section 53A-13-107 is amended to read:
             14           53A-13-107. Adoption information.
             15          (1) Each local school board shall ensure that an annual presentation on adoption is given
             16      to its secondary school students in grades 7-12 [from a person who is either a representative of a
             17      child placement agency licensed under Title 62A, Chapter 2, or an attorney licensed to practice law
             18      in this state], so that each student receives the presentation at least once during grades 7-9 and at
             19      least once during grades 10-12.
             20          (2) The presentation shall be made by a certificated teacher as part of the health education
             21      core and may be included as part of a district's teenage pregnancy prevention program authorized
             22      under Section 53A-17a-121 .
