NATURAL RESOURCES VOLUNTEERS

5 AN ACT RELATING TO THE UTAH NATURAL RESOURCES ACT; PROVIDING THAT
6 FOR CERTAIN PURPOSES A VOLUNTEER IS CONSIDERED AN EMPLOYEE OF THE
7 STATE.
8 This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
9 AMENDS:
10 63-34-11, as enacted by Chapter 186, Laws of Utah 1981
11 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
12 Section 1. Section 63-34-11 is amended to read:
13 63-34-11. Volunteers as state employees.
14 A volunteer is considered an employee of the state for the purposes [of:] stated in Section
15 67-20-3 .
16 [(1) workmen's compensation benefits for any injury sustained by him while engaged in
17 the performance of any service under the control and direction of the supervising agency;]
18 [(2) operation of state vehicles or equipment when he is properly licensed for that
19 operation; and]
20 [(3) liability protection and indemnification normally afforded salaried employees.]
