GENERAL FUND FOR FISCAL YEAR 1999-2000 TO THE DIVISION OF BUSINESS
DEVELOPMENT IN THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE UTAH HERITAGE HIGHWAY
PROJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
                  This act enacts uncodified material.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
                      Section 1. Intent.
The Legislature finds that Highway 89 extending from Utah County south into Arizona
could be a vehicle for economic development for the entire state, particularly rural Utah, by
designating the highway the "Utah Heritage Highway" and by developing and promoting a world
class heritage art and craft merchandising corridor. The corridor includes many outlets which
provide heritage products, crafts, and related facilities. By promoting the Utah Heritage Highway,
tourism and economic growth would be enhanced.
                      Section 2. Appropriation.
There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 1999-2000, $50,000 to the
Division of Business Development in the Department of Community and Economic Development
to be used to develop and promote the Utah Heritage Highway Project.
                      Section 3. Effective date.
This act takes effect on July 1, 1999.
