First Substitute S.B. 99

Senator Ron Allen proposes to substitute the following bill:

1 APPROPRIATION FOR CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS
2 1999 GENERAL SESSION
3 STATE OF UTAH
4 Sponsor: Ron Allen
5 AN ACT RELATING TO CRIMINAL LAW AND HUMAN SERVICES; APPROPRIATING
6 $750,000 TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL TO PROSECUTE SPECIFIED CRIMES; AND
7 PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
8 This act enacts uncodified material.
9 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
10 Section 1. Appropriations to the attorney general and the Division of Child and
11 Family Services.
12 (1) Except as provided in H.B. 4, Appropriations Coordination Act, there is appropriated
13 for fiscal year 1999-2000 from the General Fund to the Office of the Attorney General $750,000,
14 which is to be used to aid local prosecutorial units with training and the costs of investigation and
15 prosecution regarding the following offenses:
16 (a) incest;
17 (b) sexual offenses, including sexual abuse, sexual assault, and offenses involving
18 unlawful sexual conduct with a person younger than 18 years of age;
19 (c) welfare fraud;
20 (d) tax fraud; and
21 (e) failure to pay child support.
22 (2) The money appropriated under Subsection (1) is nonlapsing.
23 Section 2. Effective date.
24 This act takes effect on July 1, 1999.
