YOUTH DRIVER PROVISIONS

Senator Howell proposes the following amendments:
1. Page 1, Line 7: After "YOUNG DRIVERS;" insert "PROVIDING ADDITIONAL SEAT BELT REQUIREMENTS FOR PASSENGERS RIDING WITH CERTAIN YOUNG DRIVERS;"
2. Page 1, Line 16: After line 16 insert:
" 41-8-3, Utah Code Annotated 1953"
3. Page 2, Line 36: After line 36 insert:
"Section 2. Section 41-8-3 is enacted to read:
41-8-3. Seat belt requirements.
(1) In addition to the provisions of Sections 41-6-148.20 and 41-6-182 , the driver shall provide that all persons in a motor vehicle being driven by a person younger than 18 years of age wear a properly adjusted and fastened safety belt system or child restraint device, as applicable, that meets the standards set by the commissioner of the Department of Public Safety.
(2) A violation of this section is a class C misdemeanor."
Renumber remaining sections accordingly.
