             6      AN ACT RELATING TO APPROPRIATIONS; APPROPRIATING $600,000 FROM THE
             7      GENERAL FUND FOR FISCAL YEAR 2000-01 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
             8      AND FOOD FOR DISTRIBUTION TO SOIL CONSERVATION DISTRICTS; AND
             9      PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
             10      This act enacts uncodified material.
             11      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             12          Section 1. Appropriation.
             13          There is appropriated $600,000 from the General Fund for fiscal year 2000-01 to the
             14      Department of Agriculture and Food for distribution to soil conservation districts organized under
             15      Title 17A, Chapter 3, Part 8, Soil Conservation Districts, for:
             16          (1) developing conservation plans for farmers and ranchers to keep the state's farmland
             17      productive and rivers and lakes clean;
             18          (2) technical assistance for projects funded through the Agriculture Resource Development
             19      Loan program and the Nonpoint Source Pollution program;
             20          (3) helping counties and cities identify critical natural resources and development
             21      constraints;
             22          (4) educating the state's consumers about the necessity of important agricultural lands and
             23      protecting the state's natural resources; and
             24          (5) technical assistance to implement best management practices in carrying out state and
             25      federal conservation programs.
             26          Section 2. Effective date.
             27          This act takes effect on July 1, 2000.
