             6      AN ACT RELATING TO PUBLIC EDUCATION; PROVIDING THAT LOCAL SCHOOL
             7      BOARDS ACCEPT AS CREDITED TEACHING EXPERIENCE ALL THE YEARS AN
             8      EDUCATOR HAS TAUGHT IN THE STATE'S PUBLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM IF
             9      TEACHING EXPERIENCE IS A FACTOR IN EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS;
             10      AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
             11      This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
             12      ENACTS:
             13          53A-3-411.5, Utah Code Annotated 1953
             14      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             15          Section 1. Section 53A-3-411.5 is enacted to read:
             16          53A-3-411.5. Teaching experience employment factor.
             17          (1) If a licensed educator's teaching experience is a factor in negotiating a contract of
             18      employment to teach in the school district, the local school board shall accept as credited teaching
             19      experience all the years the educator has taught in the state's public education system.
             20          (2) In accordance with Title 63, Chapter 46a, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act, the
             21      State Board of Education shall make rules that a local school board shall use to grant partial credit
             22      under Subsection (1) for less than a full school year's teaching experience.
             23          Section 2. Effective date.
             24          This act takes effect on July 1, 2000.
