SALARY ADJUSTMENTS FOR CLASSIFIED

6 AN ACT RELATING TO PUBLIC EDUCATION; MODIFYING CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES
7 SALARY ADJUSTMENT PROVISIONS WHEN DIVIDING THE WEIGHTED PUPIL UNIT
8 FOR SALARY ADJUSTMENT PURPOSES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
9 This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
10 AMENDS:
11 53A-17a-137, as last amended by Chapter 4, Laws of Utah 1993
12 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
13 Section 1. Section 53A-17a-137 is amended to read:
14 53A-17a-137. Classified employees' salaries.
15 (1) In view of the fact that instructional salary money is supported by both the value of the
16 weighted pupil unit and by a line item appropriation for reform measures, other educational
17 personnel, including classified employees, shall be given added consideration in the division of
18 the weighted pupil unit.
19 (2) Local school boards shall provide equal or higher salary adjustments to classified
20 employee groups in comparison to other district employee groups when dividing the weighted
21 pupil unit for salary adjustment purposes.
22 Section 2. Effective date.
23 This act takes effect on July 1, 2000.
