             6      A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION OF THE LEGISLATURE AND THE GOVERNOR
             7      RECOGNIZING NATALIE WILLIAMS OF THE UTAH STARZZ FOR HER VICTORY IN
             8      THE SONY ALL-STAR 2BALL CHAMPIONSHIP; AND RECOGNIZING HER
             9      TREMENDOUS TALENTS ON THE BASKETBALL FLOOR AND HER CONTRIBUTION AS
             10      A ROLE MODEL FOR UTAH'S YOUTH.
             11      Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
             12          WHEREAS, during the 2000 National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Game
             13      events, Natalie Williams of the Utah Starzz paired with Jeff Hornacek of the Utah Jazz to win the
             14      Sony All-Star 2ball championship;
             15          WHEREAS, Natalie Williams was outstanding in the 2ball event, making a key shot that
             16      ultimately led to victory in the competition;
             17          WHEREAS, Natalie Williams is a Utah native with many extended family members living
             18      in the state;
             19          WHEREAS, Natalie Williams was recently named USA Basketball's Female Athlete of
             20      the Year;
             21          WHEREAS, Natalie Williams was also named to the 1999 All-Women's National
             22      Basketball Association First Team and will represent the United States in the 2000 Olympic
             23      Summer Games in Sydney, Australia;
             24          WHEREAS, Natalie Williams has distinguished herself among fellow athletes with her
             25      tenacity, dedication to basketball, and her drive for excellence;
             26          WHEREAS, Utah is proud that Natalie Williams has made Utah her home; and
             27          WHEREAS, Natalie Williams represents the finest in athleticism and professionalism in


             28      women's basketball and serves as a role model for many young Utahns:
             29          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
             30      Governor concurring therein, recognize Natalie Williams of the Utah Starzz for her victory in the
             31      2000 NBA Sony All-Star 2ball Championship.
             32          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor recognize Natalie
             33      Williams for her athletic skill and professionalism and for being a role model for Utah's youth.
             34          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be presented to Natalie
             35      Williams and the Utah Starzz.
