6 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION OF THE LEGISLATURE AND THE GOVERNOR
7 RECOGNIZING JEFF HORNACEK OF THE UTAH JAZZ FOR HIS VICTORIES IN
8 NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION ALL-STAR COMPETITIONS; AND
9 RECOGNIZING HIS EXCELLENT PLAY AND CONTRIBUTION TO HIS COMMUNITY
10 AND THE STATE.
11 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
12 WHEREAS, during the 2000 National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Game
13 events, Jeff Hornacek of the Utah Jazz successfully defended his title in the AT&T Three-Point
14 Shootout and paired with Natalie Williams of the Utah Starzz to win the Sony All-Star 2ball
15 championship;
16 WHEREAS, Jeff Hornacek also earned a $100,000 donation from the NBA to the
17 Huntsman Cancer Institute;
18 WHEREAS, Jeff Hornacek has thrilled Utah Jazz fans with his precision shooting and
19 pursuit of excellence on the court;
20 WHEREAS, off the court, Jeff Hornacek's contributions to his community and the state of
21 Utah exerts a tremendous influence for good;
22 WHEREAS, Jeff Hornacek is admired and emulated by many Utahns who honor his
23 commitment to family, hard work, and fair play; and
24 WHEREAS, Jeff Hornacek continues to represent the Utah Jazz and the state of Utah with
25 great distinction:
26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
27 Governor concurring therein, recognize Jeff Hornacek of the Utah Jazz for successfully defending
28 his crown in the All-Star AT&T Three-Point Shootout and for winning the 2000 NBA Sony
29 All-Star 2ball Championship.
30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor recognize Jeff
31 Hornacek for his athletic skill, commitment to community and family, and his example to the
32 youth of Utah.
33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be presented to Jeff Hornacek
34 and the Utah Jazz.
