Mr. Speaker:

    The Education Committee reports a favorable recommendation on H.B. 168, UNIFORM DATA COLLECTION WITHIN THE STATE'S PUBLIC EDUCATION SYSTEM, by Representative L. Frandsen, et al, with the following amendments:

1.    Page 1, Line 14:    After "EFFECTIVENESS" INSERT "; PROVIDING A $350,000 APPROPRIATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE"

2.     Page 3, Line 71:     After "(e)" delete "to the extent provided by legislative appropriations,"


3.    Page 4, Line 99:    After line 99 insert:

        "Section 2. Appropriation.
         There is appropriated for fiscal year 2000-01, from the Uniform School Fund to the State Board of Education:
        (1) $150,000 in one-time moneys to purchase equipment required for the automated decision support system under Subsection 53A-1-301(2)(e); and
        (2) $200,000 to fund ongoing costs of the automated decision support system established in Subsection 53A-1-301(2)(e).

         Section 3. Effective date.
         This act takes effect on July 1, 2000. "
