APPROPRIATION FOR HOME ENERGY
ASSISTANCE TARGET PROGRAM
2001 GENERAL SESSION

This act appropriates $200,000 from the General Fund, for fiscal year 2001-02 only, to the
Department of Community and Economic Development for use in the Home Energy
Assistance Target Program. This act takes effect on July 1, 2001.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
Section 1. Appropriation.
(1) For fiscal year 2001-02 only, there is appropriated $200,000 from the General Fund
to the Department of Community and Economic Development.
(2) It is the intent of the Legislature that the Department of Community and Economic
Development distribute the money appropriated in Subsection (1) to those who are eligible under
Title 9, Chapter 12, Part 1, "Home Energy Assistance Target (HEAT) Program Act" to assist in
the unexpected increase in public utility rates which has arisen during this period of volatility in
the energy markets.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act takes effect on July 1, 2001.
