First Substitute S.B. 108

Senator Ed P. Mayne proposes to substitute the following bill:

1 LICENSURE OF MOTOR VEHICLES
2 2001 GENERAL SESSION
3 STATE OF UTAH

5 This act modifies the Motor Vehicle Code by requiring applicants for new vehicle
6 registration to S [ show a valid driver license ] SWEAR OR AFFIRM THAT
6a ANY PERSON WHO DRIVES THE MOTOR VEHICLE WILL HAVE A VALID DRIVER LICENSE s .
7 This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
8 ENACTS:
9 41-1a-210.5, Utah Code Annotated 1953
10 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
11 Section 1. Section 41-1a-210.5 is enacted to read:
12 41-1a-210.5. Driver license required on new registrations.
13 S [ The ] BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2001, THE s division, before issuing any new registration,
13a shall require a person in whose name the
14 vehicle is registered to swear or affirm, in a manner specified by the division, that S [ :
15 (1) he has a valid driver license; and
16 (2) ] s any person S [ he permits to drive ] WHO DRIVES s the vehicle will have a valid
