RE-REFERRING BILLS TO COMMITTEE

             6      This Senate resolution of the Legislature revises Senate rules to outline the process of
             7      re-referring bills to committee. This Senate resolution provides an effective date.
             8      This resolution affects legislative rules as follows:
             9      REPEALS AND REENACTS:
             10          SR-25.11
             11      Be it resolved by the Senate of the state of Utah:
             12          Section 1. SR-25.11 is repealed and reenacted to read:
             13           SR-25.11. Re-referring Bills to Committee.
             14          [Any bill may be returned to a committee by a majority vote of those present in the Senate
             15      at any time prior to its passage on the third reading calendar.]
             16          A bill that has been referred to a standing committee may be re-referred as follows:
             17          (1) by the presiding officer;
             18          (2) upon motion from the floor; and
             19          (3) if a bill has been reported back by the committee to which it was assigned with the
             20      recommendation that it be re-referred to the Secretary of the Senate.
             21          Section 2. Effective date.
             22          This resolution takes effect upon approval by a constitutional majority vote of all members
             23      of the Senate.
