RESOLUTION SUPPORTING BUSINESSES

2002 GENERAL SESSION

STATE OF UTAH

             5      This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor expresses support for Utah
             6      businesses that provide stable jobs and create a healthy Utah economy. The resolution also
             7      recognizes the importance of considering the impact of laws and rules on the Utah business
             8      community.
             9      Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
             10          WHEREAS, Utah businesses provide employment for the overwhelming majority of
             11      working Utahns;
             12          WHEREAS, the jobs provided by Utah businesses are essential to enable the citizens of
             13      Utah to achieve a good quality of life for themselves and their families;
             14          WHEREAS, taxes paid by Utah businesses to state and local governments are essential to
             15      provide government services and educate Utah's children;
             16          WHEREAS, healthy businesses relieve the government of some of the burdens associated
             17      with providing services to the economically disadvantaged; and
             18          WHEREAS, a healthy and competitive business climate ensure a strong Utah economy:
             19          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
             20      Governor concurring therein, expresses support for the business community in the state of Utah
             21      and recognizes its important role in creating a healthy economy.
             22          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah recognizes the
             23      importance of considering the potential negative impact on the Utah business community in its
             24      passage of laws and through state agency rulemaking.
             25          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to each of Utah's
             26      chambers of commerce.
