ORGAN DONOR LEAVE FOR STATE

             6      This act modifies the State Officers and Employees Code by authorizing a paid leave of
             7      absence for state employees who serve as a bone marrow or donor of a human organ. This
             8      act takes effect on July 1, 2002.
             9      This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
             10      ENACTS:
             11          67-19-14.5, Utah Code Annotated 1953
             12      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             13          Section 1. Section 67-19-14.5 is enacted to read:
             14          67-19-14.5. Organ donor leave.
             15          (1) An employee who serves as a bone marrow donor shall be granted a paid leave of
             16      absence of up to seven days that are necessary for the donation and recovery from the donation.
             17          (2) An employee who serves as a donor of a human organ shall be granted a paid leave of
             18      absence of up to 30 days that are necessary for the donation and recovery from the donation.
             19          Section 2. Effective date.
             20          This act takes effect on July 1, 2002.
