    Chair Eastman called the meeting to order at 3:50 p.m.
    
1.     S.B. 146 BUSINESS ENTITY AMENDMENTS (Sen. J. Valentine)

    Sen. Valentine presented the bill to the committee.
    
         MOTION: Sen. Hellewell moved to pass S. B.146 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.

2.     1ST Sub. H.B. 64 CONSUMER PROTECTION AMENDMENTS (Rep. A. Bradshaw)

    
Rep. Bradshaw presented the bill to the committee.
    
     MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 3, Line 57:    Bracket "or"


2.    Page 3, Line 59:    Bracket the period and insert "; or" at the end of the line. After Line 59 insert the following:
        "(d) as required by law for a medical purpose."

    The motion to amend passed with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.

    Paul Rogers, 1-800-CONTACTS and Francine Gianni, Consumer Protection, spoke to the bill.

    MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to pass 1st Sub. H. B. 64, as amended, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.

3.     S.B. 56 AGE DISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT ( By Sen. E. Mayne)    
    
    Sen. Mayne explained that he would like to present this bill at a future meeting.

     MOTION: Sen. Mayne moved to proceed to the next item on the agenda.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.

4.     S.B. 102 BID REQUIREMENTS ON COUNTY OR MUNICIPAL CONSTRUCTION (By Sen. H. Stephenson)

    Sen. Stephenson presented the bill to the committee.

     MOTION: Sen. Hellewell moved to accept 1st Sub. S.B. 102.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.

    Fred Finlinson, Water Coalition; Robert Babcock, Attorney, spoke to the bill. Mike Embley, General Manager Kearns Improvement District; Dave Spatefore, Utah League of Cities and Towns; Rich Thorn, President - General Contractors, spoke in opposition to the bill.

    MOTION: Sen. Hellewell moved to pass 1st Sub. S.B. 102 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

     SUB-MOTION: Sen. Mayne moved to adjourn.



    The motion passed with Sen. Bramble and Sen. Hellewell voting against.

     Chair Eastman adjourned the meeting at 5:10 p.m.
