Chair Eastman called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m.
MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to approve minutes of the January 31, 2002, February 5th 2002 and February 25th, 2002.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.
1. S.B. 176 UTAH REVISED NON PROFIT CORPORATION ACT AMENDMENTS (Sen. L. Hillyard)
Sen. Hillyard presented the bill to the committee.
Bruce Olson, Attorney, spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to pass S. B. 176 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.
2. 1ST SUB. S.B. 186 UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS - EXEMPTION FOR CORPORATE OFFICERS (Sen. P. Hellewell)
Sen. Hellewell presented the bill to the committee.
Christopher Love, Department of Work Force Services and Jim Olson, Utah Food Industry and Merchants Association spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to return 1st Sub. S.B.186 to rules for interim study.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.
3. S.B. 56 AGE DISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT (Sen. E. Mayne)
Sen. Mayne presented the bill to the committee.
Mary Petersen, AARP; Michael Siler, AARP and Milt Saathoff, Sr. Coalition spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Mayne moved to amend the bill as follows:
1. Page 1, Line 1: Delete AGE
The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Sen. Bramble move to proceed onto the next item on the agenda.
The motion passed with Sen. Davis and Sen. Mayne voting against.
MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to adjourn.
