Sen. Hickman called the meeting to order at 8:50 a.m.

1. MOTION: Sen. Allen moved to accept the minutes of February 5, 2002.

The motion passed unanimously.

2. 1st Sub. H.B. 36 CHILD CARE AMENDMENTS (Rep. R. Siddoway)

    
Rep. Siddoway presented the bill to the committee.

    Karen Silver, Salt Lake Community Action Program, and Lynette Rasmussen, Director of Office of Child Care, spoke in favor.

     MOTION: Sen. Allen moved to pass 1st Sub. H.B. 36 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion failed with Sen. Hickman, Sen. Poulton and Sen. Wright voting against.

3.     H.B. 237 SPOUSE ABUSE AMENDMENTS (Rep. G. Adair)

    Rep. Adair presented the bill to the committee.

     MOTION: Sen. Poulton moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 2, Line 33:    After "Services" insert ", unless the court finds that there is no

licensed program reasonably available"

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Poulton moved to pass H.B. 237, as amended, out of the committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.
    
     MOTION: Senator Allen moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Spencer absent for the vote.

    The meeting adjourned at 9:20 a.m.
