Chair Gladwell called the meeting to order at 4:24 p.m.
        
     MOTION: Sen. Peterson moved to approve the minutes of February 25, 2002.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Buttars and Sen. Valentine absent for the vote.

1.     S.B. 149 Ethics Amendments (L. S. Poulton)

    Sen. L. Steven Poulton introduced the bill.




     MOTION: Sen. Hillyard moved to delete in title and body S.B. 149 and replace it with 2nd Sub. S.B. 149.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Valentine absent for the vote.

    The following spoke in support of the bill:
    Cassie Dippo, State Issues Coordinator, Common Cause of Utah
    Sandy Peck, League of Women Voters

     MOTION: Sen. Peterson moved to pass 2nd Sub. S.B. 149 out with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Valentine absent for the vote.

2.     S.B. 64 Criminal Code Amendments (A. Suazo)

    Sen. Alicia Suazo introduced the bill. Handouts were distributed. Susan Craeger Allred, LRGC, assisted in the presentation and answered questions.

    The motion failed with Sen. Peterson and Sen. Suazo voting in favor, Sen. Gladwell, Sen. Buttars, and Sen. Valentine voting in opposition, and Sen. Hillyard absent for the vote.



     MOTION: Sen. Peterson moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard absent for the vote.
    
    Sen. Gladwell adjourned the meeting at 5:54 p.m.
