             6      This resolution modifies Joint Rules by eliminating the special legislative expenses
             7      requirement established to govern legislative expenses during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
             8      This resolution takes effect immediately.
             9      This resolution affects legislative rules as follows:
             10      AMENDS:
             11          JR-15.02
             12      Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             13          Section 1. JR-15.02 is amended to read:
             14           JR-15.02. Expenses While in Session.
             15          (1) This rule governs legislative expenses when the Legislature is in annual general
             16      session.
             17          (2) [(a) Except as provided in Subsection (2)(b), each] Each legislator shall receive an
             18      expense allowance equal to the sum of the federal lodging per diem rate for Salt Lake City and
             19      the federal meals and incidental expenses per diem rate for Salt Lake City.
             20          [(b) (i) During the time that the Legislature is adjourned for the 2002 Salt Lake City
             21      Olympic Games only, each legislator who travels to Salt Lake City on legislative business
             22      shall, if approved in writing by the Legislative Expenses Oversight Committee, receive
             23      reimbursement for:]
             24          [(A) actual lodging expenses and actual meals and incidental expenses up to the federal
             25      per diem rate for Salt Lake City; and]
             26          [(B) actual transportation costs to and from Salt Lake City.]
             27          [(ii) Each legislator seeking reimbursement under this section shall submit receipts and



             28      other evidence of expenses incurred to the Legislative Expenses Oversight Committee for
             29      reimbursement by March 8, 2002.]
             30          (3) (a) Each legislator shall receive transportation costs to and from the session.
             31          (b) These costs shall be computed on the basis of actual mileage for private automobile
             32      use or the actual cost of alternative commercial transportation.
             33          Section 2. Effective date.
             34          This resolution takes effect upon approval by a constitutional majority vote of all
             35      members of the Senate and House of Representatives.
