6 This resolution modifies Senate Rules governing committees by requiring that the chair
7 verbally announce the result of the vote and verbally identify either those members who
8 voted "yes" or those members who voted "no." This resolution takes effect immediately.
9 This resolution affects legislative rules as follows:
10 AMENDS:
11 SR-24.16
12 Be it resolved by the Senate of the state of Utah:
13 Section 1. SR-24.16 is amended to read:
14 SR-24.16. Voting; Chair to Verbally Announce the Vote; Dissenting Members to
15 be Reported.
16 (1) After the committee votes, the chair shall:
17 (a) determine whether the motion passed or failed;
18 (b) verbally announce that the motion passed or that the motion failed; and
19 (c) verbally identify by name either the committee members who voted "yes" or the
20 committee members who voted "no."
21 (2) Members dissenting from a committee report may file a minority report or may be
22 listed on the majority report as dissenting.
23 Section 2. Effective date.
24 This resolution takes effect upon approval by a constitutional majority vote of all
25 members of the Senate.
