RESOLUTION REGARDING DIVISION OF
2 YOUTH CORRECTIONS NAME CHANGE
3 2003 GENERAL SESSION
4 STATE OF UTAH
5 Sponsor: Parley G. Hellewell
6 This resolution of the Senate recommends that the Division of Youth Corrections change
7 its name to more accurately reflect the additional duties and responsibilities that the
8 Legislature has placed on the division.
9 Be it resolved by the Senate of the state of Utah:
10 WHEREAS, since the Division of Youth Corrections was named, the Legislature has
11 given the division additional duties and responsibilities; and
12 WHEREAS, the current name of the division does not adequately describe the full
13 range of responsibilities that the division is mandated to fulfill:
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the state of Utah
15 recommends that, by October 2003, the Division of Youth Corrections determine a new name
16 for the division that more accurately reflects the duties and responsibilities of the division.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the state of Utah recommends that
18 the change in the division's name be incorporated into draft legislation for the 2004 General
19 Session of the Utah Legislature.
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Division of
21 Youth Corrections, the Department of Human Services, and the Commission on Criminal and
22 Juvenile Justice.
