Vice Chair Mascaro called the meeting to order at 9:07 a.m.
MOTION: Representative Last moved to approve the minutes of the January 27, 2003 committee meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Jones, Representative Lockhart, and Representative Thompson absent for the vote.
At the request of the sponsor, S.B. 80 Adverse Benefit Determination Amendments, sponsored by Senator Knudson, was not considered in today's meeting.
Vice Chair Mascaro relinquished the chair to Chair Thompson.
S.B. 11 Child Care Amendments (B. Evans)
Senator Evans explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Ms. Lynette Rasmussen, Director - State Office of Child Care.
Representative Bird expressed a conflict of interest with the bill.
Ms. Sarah Brenna, Legislative Liaison- Department of Workforce Services, answered questions of committee members.
Mr. Peter Corroon, Child Care Advisory Committee, and Ms. Karen Silver, Advocate - Salt Lake Community Action Program, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Representative Mascaro moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Dillree and Representative Lockhart absent for the vote.
MOTION: Representative Buffmire moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Dillree and Representative Lockhart absent for the vote.
Chair Thompson adjourned the meeting at 9:58 a.m.
