Sen. Evans called the meeting to order at 8:45 a.m.
MOTION: Sen. Jenkins moved to approve the minutes of 1/28/03.
The motion passed unanimously.
1. S .B. 58 YOUTH CORRECTIONS - DIVISION NAME AMENDMENT (Sen. P. Hellewell)
Sen. Hellewell presented the bill to the committee.
Delpha Baird, former Utah Senator, spoke in favor of the bill and Blake Chard, Division of Youth Corrections, spoke in opposition.
MOTION: Sen. Jenkins moved to pass S.B. 58 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed with Sen. J. Evans, Sen. Jenkins, Sen. Thomas and Sen. Julander voting in favor and Sen. Allen and Sen. B. Evans voting against.
2. H.B. 35 CONSOLIDATION OF CHILD WELFARE (Rep. G. Hughes)
MOTION: Sen. Evans moved to pass H.B. 35 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously.
3. S.B. 121 FEDERAL HEALTH INSURANCE PORTABILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT COMPLIANCE AMENDMENTS, by Sen. P. Knudson was not discussed.
4. H. B. 12 UTAH OPTOMETRY PRACTICE ACT AMENDMENTS, Rep. K. Bryson, was not discussed.
5. H. B. 36 ACCESSIBLE HOUSING (By Rep. S. Mascaro)
