Committee Chair Bell called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m.
1. S.B. 86 Prohibition of Automatic Renewal of Service Contracts (M. Waddoups)
Sen. Michael Waddoups introduced the bill. Shanna Werner, Administrator, Salt Lake City Police Department, assisted in the presentation and distributed a handout.
Bill Meaders, Attorney, DMA, commented on the bill and proposed that it be restricted to contracts with real property or to issues that benefit real property.
Speaking in support of the bill were: Conni Madsen, private citizen; Robert Meredith, attorney; Tama Hale, private citizen.
MOTION: Sen. Buttars moved to hold the bill until the next Committee meeting.
The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Sen. Hillyard moved to adjourn the meeting.
