Committee Chair Bell called the meeting to order at 4:20 p.m.
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to approve the minutes of February 17, 2003.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Gladwell absent for the vote.
1. S.B. 214 Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Amendments (M. Waddoups)
Sen. Michael Waddoups introduced the bill. Jeff Rowley, Risk Manager, Salt Lake City, assisted in the presentation.
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to amend S.B. 214 as follows:
1. Page 1, Line 10 At the beginning of line 10 delete " or" and insert " for"
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Gladwell absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to amend S.B. 214 as follows:
1. Page 6, Line 180: Delete "uninsured" and insert "underinsured"
2. Page 7, Line 185: Delete "uninsured" and insert "underinsured"
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Gladwell absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to pass S.B. 214, as amended, out with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Evans absent for the vote.
2. S.B. 211 Consumer Sales Practices Act Amendments (P. Arent)
Senator Arent introduced the bill. Francine Giani, Director, Division of Consumer Protection assisted in the presentation.
Ross Marchant, Farmers Insurance Company, spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Gladwell moved to amend S.B. 211 as follows:
1. Page 1, Line 17: After "(b)" delete "printed"
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Evans absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to pass S.B. 211, as amended, out with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Evans absent for the vote.
3. H.B. 204 Felony Murder Amendments (K. Morgan)
Rep. Karen Morgan introduced the bill. Mike Wims, Criminal Division, Attorney General's Office, assisted in the presentation.
MOTION: Sen. Gladwell moved to pass H.B. 204 out with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Evans absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to place H.B. 204 on the consent calendar.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Evans absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Gladwell moved to adjourn.
