             8      General Description:
             9          This bill modifies the State System of Higher Education by requiring disclosure to
             10      students of certain dollar amounts relating to the full cost of instruction.
             11      Highlighted Provisions:
             12          This bill:
             13          .    requires each institution within the state system of higher education to plainly
             14      disclose to its students the full cost of instruction, the portion of that amount
             15      collected from student tuition and fees, and the difference that is paid by state tax
             16      dollars and other monies.
             17      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:
             18          None
             19      Other Special Clauses:
             20          This bill takes effect on July 1, 2004.

             22      ENACTS:
             23          53B-7-105, Utah Code Annotated 1953

             25      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             26          Section 1. Section 53B-7-105 is enacted to read:
             27          53B-7-105. Higher education cost disclosure.


             28          (1) Each institution within the state system of higher education shall, at the time of
             29      registration, plainly disclose to all of its H UNDERGRADUATE RESIDENT h students the following
             29a      amounts, in dollar figures for a
             30      full-time equivalent student:
             31          (a) the full cost of instruction;
             32          (b) the amount collected from student tuition and fees; and
             33          (c) the difference between the amounts described under Subsections (1)(a) and (b).
             34          (2) The disclosure under Subsection (1)(c) shall also clearly indicate that this balance
             35      was paid by state tax dollars and other monies.
             36          Section 2. Effective date.
             37          This bill takes effect on July 1, 2004.
