7 LONG TITLE
8 General Description:
9 This bill extends the licenses or a certification of active members of the National
10 Guard S AND MEMBERS OF A RESERVE COMPONENT OF THE ARMED FORCES s .
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . allows for a 90-day extension for certain licenses or a certification that expire while
14 the National Guard member S OR RESERVIST s is on active duty; and
15 . exempts the National Guard member S OR RESERVIST s from meeting any continuing
15a education or
16 training requirements to obtain a renewal of a license that expired while the member
17 of the National Guard S OR RESERVIST s was on active duty.

27 Section 1. Section 39-1-64 is enacted to read:

39-1-64. Extension of licenses for members of National Guard.
29 (1) As used in this section, "license" means any license issued under:
30 (a) Title 58, Occupations and Professions;
31 S [ (b) Title 53, Chapter 3, Part 1, Driver's License Division Administration; ] s and
32 S [ (c) ] (b) s Section 26-8a-302 .
33 (2) Any license held by a member of the National Guard S OR RESERVE COMPONENT OF
33a THE ARMED FORCES s that expires while the member
34 is on active duty shall be extended until 90 days after the member is discharged from active
35 duty status.
36 (3) The licensing agency shall renew a license extended under Subsection (2) until the
37 next date that the license expires or for the period that the license is normally issued, at no cost
38 to the member of the National Guard S OR RESERVE COMPONENT OF THE ARMED FORCES s if all
38a of the following conditions are met:
39 (a) the National Guard member S OR RESERVIST s requests renewal of the license within
39a 90 days after
40 being discharged;
41 (b) the National Guard member S OR RESERVIST s provides the licensing agency with a
41a copy of the
42 member's S OR RESERVIST'S s official orders calling the member S OR RESERVIST s to active
42a duty, and official orders discharging the
43 member S OR RESERVIST s from active duty; and
44 (c) the National Guard member S OR RESERVIST s meets all the requirements necessary for
44a the renewal of
45 the license, except the member S OR RESERVIST s need not meet the requirements, if any, that relate
45a to continuing
46 education or training.
46a S (4) THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION DO NOT APPLY TO REGULARLY SCHEDULED
46b ANNUAL TRAINING. s
