             6      LONG TITLE
             7      General Description:
             8          This bill modifies provisions on licensure of occupational therapists and occupational
             9      therapist assistants.
             10      Highlighted Provisions:
             11          This bill:
             12          .    modifies the names of national accreditation and certification entities to reflect
             13      recent name changes made at the national level; and
             14          .    makes certain technical changes.
             15      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:

             20      AMENDS:
             21          58-42a-302, as last amended by Chapter 28, Laws of Utah 1995

             23      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             24          Section 1. Section 58-42a-302 is amended to read:
             25           58-42a-302. Qualifications for licensure.
             26          (1) All applicants for licensure as an occupational therapist shall:
             27          (a) submit an application in a form as prescribed by the division;



             28          (b) pay a fee as determined by the department under Section 63-38-3.2 ;
             29          (c) be of good moral character as it relates to the functions and responsibilities of the
             30      practice of occupational therapy;
             31          (d) graduate with a bachelors or masters degree in occupational therapy from a
             32      program accredited by the [American] Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy
             33      [Association] Education; and
             34          (e) be certified by the [American] National Board for Certification in Occupational
             35      Therapy [Certification Board] as an occupational therapist registered.
             36          (2) All applicants for licensure as an occupational therapist assistant shall:
             37          (a) submit an application in a form as prescribed by the division;
             38          (b) pay a fee as determined by the department under Section 63-38-3.2 ;
             39          (c) be of good moral character as it relates to the functions and responsibilities of the
             40      practice of occupational therapy;
             41          (d) graduate with a two-year associate degree in occupational therapy from a program
             42      accredited by the [American] National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
             43      [Certification Board]; and
             44          (e) be certified by the [American] National Board for Certification in Occupational
             45      Therapy [Certification Board] as a certified occupational therapist assistant.
