             7      General Description:
             8          This bill modifies provisions relating to county classifications.
             9      Highlighted Provisions:
             10          This bill:
             11          .    changes the ranges of population that define counties of the second through sixth
             12      class.

             18      AMENDS:
             19          17-50-501, as enacted by Chapter 318, Laws of Utah 2000

             21      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             22          Section 1. Section 17-50-501 is amended to read:
             23           17-50-501. Classification of counties.
             24          (1) Each county shall be classified according to its population.
             25          (2) (a) A county with a population of 700,000 or more is a county of the first class.
             26          (b) A county with a population of [125,000] 150,000 or more but less than 700,000 is a
             27      county of the second class.


             28          (c) A county with a population of [18,000] 31,000 or more but less than [125,000]
             29      150,000 is a county of the third class.
             30          (d) A county with a population of [10,000] 11,000 or more but less than [18,000]
             31      31,000 is a county of the fourth class.
             32          (e) A county with a population of [3,500] 4,000 or more but less than [10,000] 11,000
             33      is a county of the fifth class.
             34          (f) A county with a population less than [3,500] 4,000 is a county of the sixth class.
