9 This bill amends public telecommunications law.

22 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
23 Section 1. Section 54-8b-2.5 is amended to read:
24 54-8b-2.5. Report to governor and Legislature.
25 (1) Beginning October 15, 1998, and annually thereafter, the commission shall submit

26 a report to the governor, Legislature, and the Public Utilities and Technology Interim
27 Committee[, and Utah Technology Commission] on the state of the telecommunications
28 industry and make recommendations for any regulatory changes necessary to achieve the policy
29 of the state as set forth in Section 54-8b-1.1 .
30 (2) The commission shall determine criteria to be used to evaluate the performance of
31 price regulation and the information necessary to conduct the evaluation.
32 (3) The cost of the report required by this section shall be paid by the Committee of
33 Consumer Services, created by Section 54-10-2 , within the Division of Public Utilities of the
34 Department of Commerce.
