             7      General Description:
             8          This bill adds a new judge to the Second Judicial District.
             9      Highlighted Provisions:
             10          This bill:
             11          .    adds one judge to the second judicial district; and
             12          .    makes technical, conforming amendments to account for earlier amendments.
             13      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:
             14          None
             15      Other Special Clauses:
             16          None
             17      Utah Code Sections Affected:
             18      AMENDS:
             19          78-1-2.2, as last amended by Chapter 190, Laws of Utah 2002

             21      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             22          Section 1. Section 78-1-2.2 is amended to read:
             23           78-1-2.2. Number of district judges.
             24          The number of district court judges may not be more than:
             25          (1) four district judges in the First District;
             26          (2) [13] 14 district judges in the Second District;
             27          (3) [30] 28 district judges in the Third District[, until the following conditions are


             28      met:];
             29          [(a) upon the retirement, resignation, or death of a judge, the number of district judges
             30      in the Third District shall be decreased to 29; and]
             31          [(b) upon the retirement, resignation, or death of a second judge, the number of district
             32      judges in the Third District shall be decreased to 28;]
             33          (4) 12 district judges in the Fourth District;
             34          (5) [four] five district judges in the Fifth District[, until the condition set forth in
             35      Subsection (3)(b) is met, then the number of district judges in the Fifth District shall be
             36      increased to five];
             37          (6) two district judges in the Sixth District;
             38          (7) three district judges in the Seventh District; and
             39          (8) two district judges in the Eighth District.
