Rep. Harper called the meeting to order at 8:10 a. m.
MOTION: Rep. Seitz moved to transmit the minutes out with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.
HB0064 Amendments to Local Option Sales Tax for Municipalities (Rep. S. Allen)
Rep. Allen introduced the bill and explained its intent. Commissioner Bruce Johnson, Utah State Tax Commission and Brent Gardner, Utah Association of Counties spoke to the bill. Joe Johnson, Mayor of Bountiful, Jerry Washburn, Mayor of Orem City and Ken Bullock, Utah League of Cities and Towns spoke for the bill. Jim Olsen, Utah Retail Merchants Associations and Mike German, Taxpayers Association spoke against the bill.
MOTION: Rep. Daniels moved to transmit the bill with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed out favorably with Rep. Peterson voting against the motion and Rep. Lawrence absent for the vote.
1st Sub HCR006 Resolution Opposing Internet Access Taxes (Rep. C. Bennion)
Rep. Bennion introduced the resolution and explained its intent. Bruce Johnson, Utah State Tax Commission and Roger Tew, Utah League of Cities and Towns spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Rep. Philpot moved to transmit the bill with a favorable recommendation.
SUBSTITUTE MOTION: Rep. Peterson moved that the committee proceed to the next item on the agenda. The motion passed favorably with Reps. Harper, Clark, Philpot, and Frank voting in opposition.
HB0027 Individual Income Tax Amendments (Rep. W. Harper)
Rep. Harper introduced the bill and explained its intent. Bruce Johnson, Utah State Tax Commission spoke for the bill.
MOTION: Rep. Anderson moved to transmit the bill with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Rep. Frank moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously, the meeting adjourned at 9:15 a.m.
