7 General Description:
8 This bill creates the position of statewide coordinator for mental health services for the
9 deaf and hard of hearing and funds the position.
10 Highlighted Provisions:

13 and hard of hearing within the Department of Human Services, Division of
14 Substance Abuse and Mental Health.

25 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
26 Section 1. Section 62A-15-105.5 is enacted to read:
27 62A-15-105.5. State coordinator for mental health services for the deaf and hard
28 of hearing.
29 (1) (a) The executive director shall appoint a state coordinator for mental health
30 services for the deaf and hard of hearing.
31 (b) The coordinator should be knowledgeable in interpretive services for the deaf and
32 hard of hearing as well as mental health issues, norms, and culture of the deaf and hard of
33 hearing community.
34 (2) The coordinator shall assist the deaf and hard of hearing community in the state
35 with locating and receiving mental health services available from state agencies, local mental
36 health authorities, federal programs, and private providers, including interpretive services
37 necessary to access mental health services.
38 Section 2. Appropriation.
39 This bill appropriates H. [
39a budget constraints, $57,800 .H from the General Fund to the Department of Human
40 Services for fiscal year 2005-06, to be used to fund the statewide coordinator for mental health
41 services for the deaf and hard of hearing .
