             7      General Description:
             8          This bill amends Child and Family Services provisions regarding child protection team
             9      meetings.
             10      Highlighted Provisions:
             11          This bill:
             12          .    extends the child protection team meeting deadline for certain protective
             13      supervision cases;
             14          .    addresses what a team may do at the meeting; and
             15          .    makes technical changes.

             24      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             25          Section 1. Section 62A-4a-202.8 is amended to read:
             26           62A-4a-202.8. Child protection team meeting -- Timing.
             27          (1) [If] Subject to Subsection (2), if the division files a petition under [Subsection


             28      78-3a-305 (1) or (2) but does not take the child into protective custody] Section 78-3a-305 , the
             29      division shall convene a child protection team meeting [within 24 hours of the filing, excluding
             30      weekends and holidays,] to:
             31          (a) review the circumstances [regarding] of the filing of the petition; and [to]
             32          (b) develop or review implementation of a safety plan to protect the child from further
             33      abuse [or], neglect, or dependency.
             34          (2) The child protection team meeting required under Subsection (1) shall be held
             35      within the shorter of:
             36          (a) 14 days of the day on which the petition is filed under Section 78-3a-305 if the
             37      conditions of Subsection (2)(b) or (c) are not met;
             38          (b) 24 hours of the filing of the petition under Section 78-3a-305 , excluding weekends
             39      and holidays, if the child who is the subject of the petition will likely be taken into protective
             40      custody unless there is an expedited hearing and services ordered under the protective
             41      supervision of the court; or
             42          (c) 24 hours after receipt of a child into protective custody, excluding weekends and
             43      holidays, if the child is taken into protective custody as provided in Section 62A-4a-202.3 .
             44          [(2)] (3) The child protection team shall include as many persons under Subsection
             45      62A-4a-202.3 (6)(b) as appropriate.
             46          [(3)] (4) At its meeting the child protection team shall review the complete child
             47      protective services and foster care history of the child and the child's parents and siblings.
