8 LONG TITLE
9 General Description:
10 This joint resolution of the Legislature encourages state and local government changes
11 to remove barriers to family agricultural production.
12 Highlighted Provisions:
13 This resolution:
14 . encourages the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food and each of Utah's
15 counties, cities, and towns to make regulatory changes to remove barriers to family
16 agricultural production, processing, and distribution to customers.
17 Special Clauses:

20 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
21 WHEREAS, the family farm is a staple of American and Utah history and culture and
22 enjoys a long tradition of agricultural production;
23 WHEREAS, the values and advantages of youth and family participation in agriculture
24 enterprises are well known to include responsibility, discipline, independence, husbandry
25 skills, and family unity;
26 WHEREAS, family farm production diversifies the food supply and builds local
27 economies; and

28 WHEREAS, family farm operations have dramatically decreased in the last several
29 decades:
30 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the State of Utah
31 encourages the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food and each of Utah's counties, cities,
32 and towns to explore and implement changes H. [ or exceptions ] .H to regulations and laws

34 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Utah
35 Department of Agriculture and Food, the Utah Association of Counties, the Utah League of
36 Cities and Towns, and to each Utah State University Extension office.
