9 General Description:
10 This bill modifies a provision relating to local government control on rents.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . prohibits counties, cities, and towns from imposing controls on fees on private
14 residential property; and
15 . makes technical changes.

24 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
25 Section 1. Section 57-20-1 is amended to read:
26 57-20-1. Rent and fee control prohibition.
27 (1) A county [or incorporated], city, or town may not enact an ordinance or resolution
28 that would control rents or fees on private residential property unless it has the express
29 approval of the Legislature.

30 (2) This section does not impair the right of a state agency, county, [or incorporated]
31 city, or town to enforce its zoning, building, and planning authority.
