8 LONG TITLE
9 General Description:
10 This bill requires health care facilities, physicians, osteopathic physicians, and dentists
11 to provide consumers, when requested, with a list of charges for professional services
12 provided by the health care provider.
13 Highlighted Provisions:
14 This bill:
15 . amends the Health Care Facility Licensing and Inspection Act to require health care
16 facilities licensed under the act to provide a consumer with information regarding
17 certain charges;
18 . amends the Utah Medical Practices Act to require a physician licensed under the act
19 to provide a consumer with information regarding certain charges;
20 . amends the Utah Osteopathic Medical Practices Act to require osteopathic
21 physicians to provide consumers with information regarding certain charges; and
22 . amends the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Practice Act to require a dentist to provide
23 consumers with information regarding certain charges.

35 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
36 Section 1. Section 26-21-23 is enacted to read:
37 26-21-23. Consumer access to facility charges.
38 A health care facility licensed under this chapter shall, when requested by a consumer,
39 make a list of prices available for the consumer which includes the facility's:
40 (1) 50 most frequently performed:
41 (a) in-patient procedures; and
42 (b) out-patient procedures; and
43 (2) the 50 most commonly prescribed drugs in the facility.
44 Section 2. Section 58-67-804 is enacted to read:
45 58-67-804. Consumer access to provider charges.
46 A physician licensed under this chapter shall, when requested by a consumer, make a
47 list of professional charges available for the consumer which includes the physician's 25 most
48 frequently performed:
49 (1) clinical procedures or clinical services;
50 (2) out-patient procedures; and
51 (3) in-patient procedures.
52 Section 3. Section 58-68-804 is enacted to read:
53 58-68-804. Consumer access to provider charges.
54 An osteopathic physician licensed under this chapter shall, when requested by a
55 consumer, make a list of professional charges available for the consumer which includes the
56 osteopathic physician's 25 most frequently performed:
57 (1) clinical procedures or clinical services;
58 (2) out-patient procedures; and
59 (3) in-patient procedures.
60 Section 4. Section 58-69-806 is enacted to read:
61 58-69-806. Consumer access to provider charges.
62 A dentist licensed under this chapter shall, when requested by a consumer, make a list
63 of professional charges available for the consumer which includes the dentist's 25 most
64 frequently performed:
65 (1) clinical procedures or clinical services;
66 (2) out-patient procedures; and
67 (3) in-patient procedures.
