             7      LONG TITLE
             8      General Description:
             9          This bill modifies the Motor Vehicles Code by amending provisions relating to certain
             10      records of conviction used as evidence in civil actions.
             11      Highlighted Provisions:
             12          This bill:
             13          .    provides that a record of conviction of any person for any traffic violation is not
             14      admissible as evidence in any court in a civil action.
             15      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:
             16          None
             17      Other Special Clauses:
             18          This bill provides an immediate effective date.
             19      Utah Code Sections Affected:
             20      ENACTS:
             21          41-6a-1715, Utah Code Annotated 1953

             23      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             24          Section 1. Section 41-6a-1715 is enacted to read:
             25          41-6a-1715. Record of violation not admissible in civil action.
             26          A citation or record of conviction of any person for any violation of this chapter is not
             27      admissible as evidence in a civil action in any court.


             28          Section 2. Effective date.
             29          If approved by two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, this bill takes effect
             30      upon approval by the governor, or the day following the constitutional time limit of Utah
             31      Constitution Article VII, Section 8, without the governor's signature, or in the case of a veto,
             32      the date of veto override.
