             9      LONG TITLE
             10      General Description:
             11          This bill amends the transitional application provision of the Uniform Interstate
             12      Enforcement of Domestic Violence Protection Orders Act.
             13      Highlighted Provisions:
             14          This bill:
             15          .    amends the transitional application provision of the Uniform Interstate Enforcement
             16      of Domestic Violence Protection Orders Act to correctly coordinate with the act's
             17      July 1, 2006 effective date.
             18      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:
             19          None
             20      Other Special Clauses:
             21          If approved by two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, this bill takes effect
             22      on July 1, 2006.
             23      Utah Code Sections Affected:
             24      AMENDS:
             25          30-6a-111, as enacted by Chapter 157, Laws of Utah 2006

             27      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             28          Section 1. Section 30-6a-111 is amended to read:
             29           30-6a-111. Transitional provision.


             30          This chapter applies to protection orders issued before [May] July 1, 2006 and to
             31      continuing actions for enforcement of foreign protection orders commenced before [May] July
             32      1, 2006. A request for enforcement of a foreign protection order made on or after [May] July 1,
             33      2006 for violations of a foreign protection order occurring before [May] July 1, 2006 is
             34      governed by this chapter.
             35          Section 2. Effective date.
             36          If approved by two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, this bill takes effect
             37      on July 1, 2006.
