             7      LONG TITLE
             8      General Description:
             9          This bill amends the Child and Family Services chapter of the Utah Human Services
             10      Code and makes an appropriation to provide transitional services to abused, neglected,
             11      or dependant children of bigamist families.
             12      Highlighted Provisions:
             13          This bill:
             14          .    requires the Division of Child and Family Services, within the Department of
             15      Human Services, to provide, or contract to provide, transitional services to abused,
             16      neglected, or dependant children of bigamist families; and
             17          .    provides that the provisions of this bill do not prohibit the division from providing
             18      child protection or reunification services to an abused, neglected, or dependent
             19      person described in this bill.
             20      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:
             21          This bill appropriates:
             22          .    as an ongoing appropriation, $250,000 from the General Fund.
             23      Other Special Clauses:

             27          62A-4a-106.1, Utah Code Annotated 1953

             29      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             30          Section 1. Section 62A-4a-106.1 is enacted to read:
             31          62A-4a-106.1. Transitional services to abused, neglected, or dependant children of
             32      bigamist families.
             33          (1) The division shall, within funds appropriated by the Legislature for this purpose,
             34      provide, or contract to provide, transitional services, including case management services,
             35      living arrangements, and other necessities, for a person in need of this assistance, who:
             36          (a) is under the age of 21;
             37          (b) is a member of a bigamist family; and
             38          (c) (i) has been forced to leave the person's home or family; or
             39          (ii) has left the person's home or family in order to:
             40          (A) avoid becoming the victim of criminal activity; or
             41          (B) escape an abusive or neglectful environment.
             42          (2) Nothing in this section prohibits the division from providing child protection or
             43      reunification services to a person described in Subsection (1), or to a parent of that person.
             44          Section 2. Ongoing appropriation for provision of transitional services to abused,
             45      neglected, or dependant children of bigamist families.
             46          As an ongoing appropriation, subject to future budget constraints, there is appropriated
             47      for the fiscal year 2007-08, $250,000 from the General Fund for the purpose of enabling the
             48      Division of Child and Family Services to provide transitional services to abused, neglected, or
             49      dependant children of bigamist families in accordance with the requirements of law relating to
             50      those services.
