8 General Description:
9 This bill allows the release of certain records to a prosecuting attorney for use in
10 seeking a restitution order.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . allows the Reparations Office to release records to a prosecuting attorney for use in
14 seeking a restitution order; and
15 . provides that records so released are to be admissible in a restitution hearing when
16 the records are prepared in accordance with the Utah Rules of Evidence.

25 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
26 Section 1. Section 63-25a-429 is enacted to read:
27 63-25a-429. Release of records.
28 (1) Notwithstanding the provisions of Title 63, Chapter 2, Government Records Access
29 and Management Act, the Reparations Office may release records to a prosecuting attorney for
30 use in seeking a restitution order as provided in Title 77, Chapter 38a, Crime Victims
31 Restitution Act.
32 (2) Records released under Subsection (1) are admissible in a restitution hearing if the
33 records are prepared in accordance with Utah Rules of Evidence, Rule 803(6).
