9 General Description:
10 This bill modifies provisions relating to the Utah Constitutional Revision Commission.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . modifies a 12-year limit on a Utah Constitutional Revision Commission member's
14 term to specify that the limit applies if the 12 years are consecutive.

23 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
24 Section 1. Section 63-54-103 is amended to read:
25 63-54-103. Creation -- Members -- Appointment -- Qualifications -- Term of
26 office -- Maximum length of service.
27 (1) There is created a state commission to be known as the Utah Constitutional
28 Revision Commission, composed of 15 members.
29 (2) (a) The speaker of the House of Representatives shall appoint three members from
30 the House of Representatives, not more than two of whom may be from the same political
31 party.
32 (b) The president of the Senate shall appoint three members from the Senate, not more
33 than two of whom may be from the same political party.
34 (c) The governor shall appoint three members, not more than two of whom may be
35 from the same political party.
36 (3) (a) The nine members appointed under Subsection (2) shall select six additional
37 members.
38 (b) In selecting the six additional members, consideration shall be given to achieving
39 representation from the major geographical areas of the state and to achieving as closely as
40 possible equal bipartisan representation.
41 (4) The term for each commission member shall be six years.
42 (5) A commission member may not serve on the commission [
43 consecutive years.
