Chair Bell called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.
    
Approval of Minutes

    MOTION:
Sen. Greiner moved to approve the minutes of February 13, 2007.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Madsen absent for the vote.

1.    1st Sub. H.B. 275 Offense Against Peace Officers (Rep. C. Oda)

    Rep. Oda explained the bill.

    Rick Schwermer, Administration of the Courts, spoke to the bill.

    Reed Richards, Weber County Attorney, spoke to the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Greiner moved to pass 1st Sub. H.B. 275 out of Committee with a     favorable recommendation.



    The motion passed unanimously.

2.    H.B. 263 Jail Expenses Amendments (Rep. C. Oda)

    Rep. Oda explained the bill.

    Reed Richards, Weber County Attorney, spoke to the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Romero moved to pass H.B. 263 out of Committee with a favorable     recommendation.

    The motion passed with Sens. Hillyard and McCoy voting against the motion.

3.    S.B. 206 Punitive Damages Amendments (Sen. L. Hillyard)

    
Sen. Hillyard explained the bill.

    Kevin Olsen, Director, Division of Consumer Protection, assisted in the explanation of the     bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Hillyard moved to pass S.B. 206 out of Committee with a favorable     recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

4.    H.B. 356 DNA Exoneration Amendments (Rep. D. Litvack)

    
Rep. Litvack explained the bill.

    Creighton Horton, Assistant Attorney General, assisted in the explanation of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. McCoy moved to pass H.B. 356 out of Committee with a favorable     recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. McCoy moved to place H.B. 356 on the Consent Calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard absent for the vote.

5.    1st Sub. H.B. 114 Prisoner Long-term Health Care (Rep. J. Biskupski)


    Rep. Biskupski explained the bill.

    Karmon Sanone, Advocate, Salt Lake County Division of Aging Services, spoke in favor of     the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. McCoy moved to pass 1st Sub. H.B. 114 out of Committee with a favorable     recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. McCoy moved to place 1st Sub. H.B. 114 on the Consent Calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Greiner moved to adjourn.
