             7      LONG TITLE
             8      General Description:
             9          This bill establishes one-time appropriations to the Department of Natural Resources.
             10      Highlighted Provisions:
             11          This bill:
             12          .    defines an urban trail as a trail located in a county of the first or second class;
             13          .    establishes a one-time appropriation of $250,000 to the Department of Natural
             14      Resources for grants to plan and develop urban trails; and
             15          .    establishes a one-time appropriation of $250,000 to the Department of Natural
             16      Resources for the Bonneville Shoreline Trail Program.
             17      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:
             18          This bill appropriates:
             19          .    $250,000 from the General Fund for fiscal year 2008-09 only to the Department of
             20      Natural Resources for grants to plan and develop urban trails; and
             21          .    $250,000 from the General Fund for fiscal year 2008-09 only to the Department of
             22      Natural Resources for the Bonneville Shoreline Trail Program.

             27          63-11a-103, as enacted by Laws of Utah 1991, Chapter 144

             29      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             30          Section 1. Section 63-11a-103 is amended to read:
             31           63-11a-103. Recreational trail categories.
             32          The following recreational trail categories may be established as part of the state trails
             33      system:
             34          (1) cross-state trails which connect scenic, natural, historic, geologic, geographic, or
             35      other significant features;
             36          (2) water-oriented trails providing a path to or along lakes, streams, or reservoirs;
             37          (3) scenic-access trails which give access to recreation, scenic, natural, historic, or
             38      cultural areas;
             39          (4) urban trails which connect parks, scenic and natural areas, historical sites, and
             40      neighboring communities within a county of the first or second class; and
             41          (5) interpretive trails which identify historic routes and significant natural features.
             42          Section 2. Appropriation to the Department of Natural Resources to fund urban
             43      trails.
             44          (1) There is appropriated $500,000 from the General Fund for fiscal year 2008-09 only
             45      to the Department of Natural Resources.
             46          (2) It is the intent of the Legislature that the Department of Natural Resources use:
             47          (a) $250,000 of the monies appropriated in Subsection (1) to give a grant to a local
             48      government for an urban trail in accordance with Title 63, Chapter 11a, Part 5; and
             49          (b) $250,000 of the monies appropriated in Subsection (1) for the Bonneville Shoreline
             50      Trail Program created in Section 63-11a-504 .
